Alternative Provision Curriculum for Key Stage 3
Our Key Stage 3 curriculum is specifically designed to provide the required learning, skills and knowledge for learners aged 11-14, to be able to progress towards GCSE courses. We provide quality education delivered by qualified and experienced teachers.
Each young person referred to us receives a personalized timetable to best fit in with their individual needs. Engaging activities and homework assignments complement learning objectives.

Year 7, 8, and 9 Courses

Maths
Our Key Stage 2 Mathematics curriculum focuses on foundational concepts, enhancing understanding of numerical relationships. Students explore place value, including decimals and larger numbers. Proficiency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is honed through written methods. Encouragement to recognize patterns and improve mental arithmetic aids problem-solving skills. Introduction to algebraic concepts and advanced geometry readies students for secondary school.

English
Our Key Stage 2 English curriculum immerses students in a diverse range of literary genres to foster a love for reading and writing. We prioritize enhancing reading skills for enjoyment and information, expanding vocabulary, and responding to text-based inquiries. Grammar receives dedicated attention, empowering students to apply essential principles in their writing. Creative expression is encouraged, drawing from class readings and students' imaginations. Interactive discussions, role- playing, and oral exercises enrich classroom activities.

Science
In our Key Stage 2 Science program, we endeavor to cultivate our students comprehension of the natural world, igniting their innate curiosity. Through engaging topics such as 'The Human Body,' 'Our Universe,' and 'Changing States,' students are introduced to the fundamental domains of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Practical experimentation plays a pivotal role, with students devising their own investigative projects. Humanities & Citizenship
In our combined Humanities and Citizenship program, KS3 students engage with a wide range of topics designed to develop essential skills. They will hone their abilities in investigation, analysis, interpretation, and evaluation. Additionally, students will enhance their communication skills and deepen their chronological understanding, gaining insights into change and continuity over time. The curriculum fosters an appreciation for the development of cultures and society, equipping students with a well- rounded perspective on the world around them.

PSHE
This course covers essential topics relevant to KS3 students, including study skills, cyber safety, emotional and physical well-being, positive relationships, personal finance, mindfulness, and bullying. The curriculum is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate these important areas, promoting their overall development and well-being.

ICT
This course develops a wide range of ICT skills, helping students build confidence in using various software packages and preparing them for a potential KS4 ICT qualification. The course offers engaging content and plays a crucial role in equipping students with the technical proficiency needed for their future careers.
