Alternative Provision Curriculum for Key Stage 4
Key Stage 4 learners receive comprehensive support to build their confidence, achieve personal goals, and develop the skills, knowledge, and understanding necessary for exam success and progression to further education and employment. We understand that having even a small number of students in alternative provision can impact school Progress 8 measures.
To address this, our curriculum emphasizes core subjects, including combined science, and provides access to functional skills courses in Maths and English at levels 1 and 2. This focused approach ensures that students are well-prepared for their exams and equipped with the foundational skills needed for future academic and professional endeavours.

Year 10 and 11 GCSE Courses

English Language
Our English Language course aligns with the AQA 8700 specification, ensuring students experience rigorous and rewarding content that equips them with high-level literacy skills, knowledge, and understanding

English Literature
Delivering the AQA 8702 specification for English Literature, our course enables students to demonstrate achievements against challenging content, fostering confidence in their literacy skills and enriching their cultural awareness through the study of literary heritage texts

Math's
Our Maths GCSE course, is designed to engage, explore, and empower students in mathematics, and prepare them for future success. Whether following the AQA 8300 or Edexcel 1MA1 specifications, students acquire the essential skills for their academic and professional journey

Combined Science
Evolve Learning offers the AQA (Trilogy) GCSE specifications for both triple and dual awards science, offering diverse pathways to accommodate individual student needs. Embedded practical components ensure comprehensive preparation for examinations

Citizenship
Our course offers a deep understanding of democracy, government, and law while developing skills to create reasoned arguments, present diverse viewpoints, and plan societal actions. Students learn to recognize bias, evaluate arguments, weigh evidence, and explore alternative sources— preparing them as thoughtful, active citizens valued by higher education and employers

Maths Functional Skills
Our Level 1 Pearson Edexcel Functional Skills Mathematics course equips learners with essential skills for education, work, and daily life, addressing the need for a solid foundation in mathematics. Students undergo an assessment at designated windows throughout the year.

English Functional Skills
Designed to enhance learners' confidence and independence in various contexts, our Level 1 and Level 2 Edexcel Functional Skills English course covers speaking, listening, reading, and writing components. While students can sit the external examination at any time, assessment for speaking, listening, and communication components is arranged separately.

ICT Functional Skills
This qualification enhances students' digital knowledge and IT confidence. They learn data management and develop practical skills through three units: IT in the Digital World (exam), Data Manipulation using Spreadsheets (non-exam), and Using Augmented Reality (non-exam). It complements GCSEs or vocational studies, preparing students for further education
