Pupil Premium
Introduced in 2011, the Pupil Premium is additional funding allocated to children looked after by the local authority, those eligible for free school meals at any point in the last six years, and children whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces.
The primary aim of this funding is to raise the achievement levels of disadvantaged children by providing them with the same educational opportunities as their peers from wealthier families.

Wider Aims of Pupil Premium
Increase Social Mobility:
Ensuring that students from disadvantaged backgrounds have the same opportunities to advance socially and academically.
Enable Higher Education Access:
Helping more students from disadvantaged backgrounds gain entry to top universities
Reduce the Attainment Gap:
Bridging the gap between the highest and lowest achieving pupils nationally
Flexible Use of Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium is allocated to schools for each student who has been eligible for free school meals in the last six years (‘Ever 6’) and for Looked After Children.
Schools have the discretion to decide how to best utilize these funds, as they are in the best position to assess and address the specific needs of their students.
